TORONTO, Dec. 29, 2017 /CNW/ – Hamilton Capital Partners Inc. (“Hamilton Capital”) confirmed today the annual distributions of capital gains to unitholders of its ETFs, the Hamilton Capital Global Bank ETF (ticker “HBG”), the Hamilton Capital Global Financials Yield ETF (ticker “HFY”) and the Hamilton Capital U.S. Mid-Cap Financials ETF (USD) (ticker “HFMU.U”), all of which trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange, for 2017 tax year. Please note that this is an update to the estimated annual capital gains distributions previously announced on December 19, 2017.

ETFs are required to distribute any net income and capital gains earned in the year. The annual capital gains distributions will not be paid in cash but will be reinvested and reported as taxable distributions, and will be used to increase each ETF unitholder’s adjusted cost base. The capital gains distribution will be reinvested automatically in additional units of the ETF and immediately consolidated so that the number of units held by the unitholder, the units outstanding of the ETF, and the net asset value of the ETF will not change as a result of the capital gains distribution. These amounts are for the annual capital gains distributions and do not include the regular quarterly cash distributions announced on December 19, 2017. The ex-dividend date for these distributions was December 27, 2017, for all unitholders of record on December 29, 2017. In early 2018, the tax characteristics of all 2017 distributions will be reported to brokers via the Canadian Depository for Securities.
